Scanning Resolutions and File Formats

(ok - still needs work. But the chart on the last page is a lot better now!)

If you are going to edit the images and save them at different resolutions, get bitmaps at a decent resolution. Too large and they will take forever to load, manipulate and save (not to mention filling up the hard drive!).

For web illustrations use lower res compressed images like jpeg.

According to Epson technical support, you should scan in pictures at three times your printer's resolution for the best printing results.

If you are not sure, get 600 or 1200 dpi bitmaps, and convert them yourself with Paint Shop Pro or similar software.
